Come Home

Bellwether Church - Thursday, August 22, 2013

Home. It means so many things to so many. Perhaps it's where we grew up. Perhaps it's where we are now. Perhaps it's a place we long for. Perhaps it's a place we long to forget.

Regardless, we all want to have a home.

Home can be a group of friends, a wife, a husband, a child, a state, a bar, a college....home can be anywhere we make it.

Have you ever wondered why we desire a home (wherever that may be) so much? Why do we get homesick? As Eudora Welty said, why is our "sense of place" so important to us?

Because God gave it to us. We long for home, because He wants us to come home. Home to Him. Forever in the future. Now in the present.

At Bellwether, we are talking about salvation, or "being saved." In essence, it is coming home. We want people to discover & come to their true home.

We'll be talking about this home and inviting others to it Sunday as we close out our series "This is Your Life" with the message "Welcome Home." Our Scripture is 1 John 4: 7-21.

So many are homesick. If you are - we all have a home. It's not simply in a church. It's in Jesus.

Come home.
